WILDERNESS HUNTS
A true back country New Zealand Hunting Experience
Our backcountry wilderness hunts are designed for hunters looking for something more than simply putting an animal on the ground. These hunts take you deep into some of New Zealand’s most spectacular and remote landscapes, where rugged mountains, alpine valleys and untouched wilderness become part of the experience.
INTO THE WILD
Our wilderness hunts take place across rugged backcountry terrain where access is limited and the animals are truly wild.
From steep alpine faces and tussock-covered valleys to native bush, riverbeds and high-country basins, every day brings a new landscape and a new challenge.
The beauty of these hunts is that you never quite know what the next ridge will reveal.
We spend our days glassing large areas of country, reading the terrain, following fresh sign and carefully working our way into position. Depending on the hunt and conditions, this can mean long climbs, traversing ridgelines, glassing from high vantage points or patiently working through challenging terrain.
It is physical, rewarding and incredibly immersive.
INTO THE HEART OF THE MOUNTAINS
Some of the best hunting country in New Zealand isn't accessible by road. That's where the adventure begins.
Depending on the hunt and location, we can use helicopter access to take you deep into the mountains, landing you in remote country that would otherwise take hours or even days of walking to reach.
As the helicopter lifts away and disappears down the valley, you're left surrounded by mountains, alpine faces, tussock valleys and wild country stretching as far as you can see.
Helicopter access isn't simply a convenient way of getting into the backcountry. It allows us to reach some truly spectacular hunting country and gives you the opportunity to spend your valuable hunting time where the animals are.

MOUNTAIN CAMP
For our backcountry hunts, accommodation is part of the experience.
We stay in comfortable canvas wall tents tucked away in the mountains, giving you a genuine base camp in the heart of the hunting country. With a wood-burning stove, and everything you need after a full day in the mountains, they offer a warm and relaxed place to unwind, enjoy a good camp meal and talk through the day's hunting.
For hunts that venture further from base camp, we'll often use lightweight spike tents, allowing us to stay out in the country and make the most of our time hunting rather than travelling back to camp each evening.
There is something pretty special about waking up in the mountains, stepping outside your tent and being right where you want to be hunting. Comfortable, practical and a great part of the backcountry experience.
