We’ve put together some of the questions we’re asked most often to help you prepare for your hunt. If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, get in touch with us - we’re always happy to answer any questions and help you plan your New Zealand hunting experience.
Where do I fly into?
Queenstown International Airport. We can help you plan your travel and organise your pickup.
How far are you from Queenstown?
Our accommodation and hunting areas are approximately 1.5 hours from Queenstown, making it easy to combine your hunt with time exploring the region.
Do I need to be an experienced hunter?
Not at all. We welcome hunters with different levels of experience and tailor the hunt to your ability, experience and goals.
How fit do I need to be?
A reasonable level of fitness is recommended, particularly for tahr and chamois, as mountain hunting can involve steep and uneven terrain. We can discuss the type of hunt that best suits your fitness and confidence.
Can I bring my own rifle?
Yes, you can bring your own rifle to New Zealand, but you will need the appropriate permits and paperwork. We can also provide rifles if you prefer to travel without your own firearm. NZ Police are responsible for firearm import requirements.
Do you provide hunting rifles?
Yes. We have quality rifles and optics available for hunters who would prefer not to bring their own.
What equipment do I need to bring?
We'll provide you with a detailed gear list before your hunt. Good boots, suitable outdoor clothing and quality optics are important, particularly for backcountry hunting.
Absolutely!
Do you offer helicopter access?
Yes. Helicopter access is available for selected backcountry hunts, allowing us to reach remote mountain country and spend more time hunting in areas that would otherwise take considerably longer to access on foot.
Where do we stay during the hunt?
Our main accommodation provides a comfortable base with all the home comforts you'll appreciate after a day hunting. For backcountry hunts, we also use canvas wall tents and lightweight spike tents when venturing further into the mountains.
Can non-hunters or family members come?
Absolutely. We welcome non-hunters, couples and families, and can help plan activities and experiences around the hunting schedule.
What happens to my trophy after the hunt?
We'll take care of the field preparation and arrange transport to our local and trusted Trophy Shipping & Export Agent.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for popular seasons such as the red stag roar. This gives us the best opportunity to secure your preferred dates. You can book 3 years in advance.
Do I need a passport and visa?
You will need to apply for a NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority and an IVL (International Visitors Levy) before you arrive into New Zealand. It can take up to 72 hours to approve these visas, and once approved, they are valid for multiple visits and last for 2 years. Visit immigration.govt.nz/nzeta fill out the form and/or download the app. NZeTA NZ$9 for requests submitted using mobile app. NZeTA NZ$12 for requests submitted using website form. IVL NZ$35 per person.
